Planning Your Dream Trip to Japan
Step 1: A Conversation with Everyone
The best way to start planning your trip to Japan is by having a conversation with everyone involved. Discuss what each person wants to see and do, and where they want to go. This ensures that everyone's interests are considered, and you can create an itinerary that everyone will enjoy.
Step 2: Choosing the Best Time of Year
Once you have a list of destinations and activities, agree on the best time of year to visit and how long your trip will be. Here are some considerations:
Cherry Blossom Season (Spring): Visiting Japan during cherry blossom season at the beginning of the year is magical, but it can also be crowded and relatively more expensive.
Summer: The middle of the year can be hot and humid, which might not be ideal for everyone.
Autumn: Traveling in autumn offers pleasant weather and stunning fall foliage. However, hiking trails like those on Mount Fuji may be closed at the end of the year.
Step 3: Setting the Duration for Each Location
Once we picked the time for our trip, we agreed on how long we would stay at each location. This allowed us to maximize our experience by spending the right amount of time in each place, ensuring we could fully enjoy and explore.
Our Experience
For us, we chose to spend three weeks in Japan from the middle of October to the beginning of November. We found the weather to be great for us, providing comfortable temperatures and beautiful autumn scenery. Unfortunately for my son, hiking Mount Fuji would not be an option as at this time the paths were closed, as it could be dangerous.
